okay i love the ambiance of this place it is soo cute and the planning is very meticulous, all the way down to what the waiters are wearing (traditional korean black hanbok). the actual food was just okay imo i always say how i am going to become vegan or something but it just never happens because i end up losing my appetite when i eat vegan food i thought the sauces for some of the apps like the dumplings (thick orange tomato sauce dip was giving italian food energy) and the korean pancake (sweet pineapple, chive soysauce, and other one i forgot lol) so they relied more on texture than taste by my entree i had no more room and i didnt even finish it at all i would lowkey avoid the bulgogi sub bc it was too sweet for my taste. so was the pumpkin soup and i couldn't finish that either (a pinch less sweet and it would've been perfect as the soup had a lot of body) i wish i could've tried the dessert ! next time the drink i had was so amazing and cooling compared to the warm spicy food!! it was the least sweet cocktail the waitress recommended to me ~

An absolute odyssey of flavor, this is a great spot for when you're with a group of friends who all enjoy shareable plates. It's shoes off at the door, and you sit low to the ground (I found the seating quite comfortable), also notably everything here is vegetarian! Service is absolutely outstanding, we were well tended to and had all of our questions answered. And as for the food... my goodness. The mushrooms were a highlight, gloriously textured and seasoned, perfectly accented with cinnamon. Another absolute highlight was the spicy Korean cauliflower bites those were delicious and served with a super yummy spicy sauce. But really everything we had was delicious -- no complaints! The bibimbap was also outstanding, with its signature sizzle and perfect spice level adjusted to our table's liking. Great spot, can't recommend enough!

It's exciting there is an all vegetarian Korean place you can eat. The food is authentic tasting and high quality. You're seated either on a couch kneeling or in a table underneath. Service is quick and attentive - the place is always full but they do a great job getting to every table. I thought the dishes were great - would just say overall leaned salty. A surprising favorite was my drink - was fruit-forward and not overpowering. I would come back and I appreciate the novelty and authenticity of the food.

Loved our experience here! With the traditional seating & beautiful environment, it's a great spot for a date. The service was great, with the waiter being very helpful and everything coming very quickly. The Mushroom Stone Bowl Rice With Black Truffle Paste was amazing, and the Black Magic Cake was great. Definitely going to stop by in the future!

Lovely vegan spot for Korean food! Good ambiance inside: shoes off and heated floors give a very cozy and intimate vibe. I got the spicy rice cakes and I appreciated that they weren't super heavy like you typically expect tteokbokki to be. I also got the dumplings (?) which were great as well! I like how delicious the food was without being heavy. Would recommend for date night or a nicer dinner :)

Loved this place in the middle of Koreatown. When you go in, super kind staff asks you to take your shoes off and take your jacket from you. You then get seated on the on these traditional Korean tables where the floor is heated so your feet will be super happy :) I got some tea, appetizer and the spicy rice cakes which were all delicious.

Upon entering Hangawi, my husband and I were immediately enveloped in a warm and inviting atmosphere. The elegant and understated décor set the stage for an unforgettable meal. Allow me to elaborate. Hangawi is unlike any other Korean restaurant found in K-town. It is an establishment that is entirely vegan, featuring a contemporary ambiance that seamlessly blends with touches of Korean culture. This harmonious ambiance significantly enhanced our dining experience. Having made advance reservations via phone, my husband and I were seated at a beautiful table. I must acknowledge that the attention to detail in the presentation of the silverware and table setting contributed to the overall elegance of the experience. Moving on to the culinary aspect, we commenced our meal by ordering two appetizers: beet noodles with buckwheat pancakes and a winter appetizer platter consisting of dumplings and stuffed shiitake mushrooms, among other delectable offerings. I must honestly assert that the standout appetizer was the beet noodles with buckwheat pancakes. For our main entrees, we selected spicy tofu cutlets in chili and soybean sauce for my husband and bibimbap in a stone bowl with crispy lotus for myself. The diverse flavors truly tantalized my taste buds. In my opinion, the stone bowl with crispy lotus stood out as the superior choice between the two. My sole disappointment was the scarcity of the crispy lotus. We concluded our meal with black sesame cake and matcha cheesecake, both of which were accompanied by two distinct types of vegan ice cream. My husband and I collectively favored the matcha cheesecake over the black sesame cake, which we found to be rather dense. It is important to note that Hangawi's menu is seasonal, meaning that the offerings change from month to month. However, they do maintain a selection of signature dishes that remain available throughout the year. Additionally, they often offer specials, such as the upcoming Valentine's Special. I strongly recommend making advance reservations to ensure a delightful and memorable experience with your partner.
